Adjusting to Motherhood: Part 2 - the best parts

  1. The pride and passion for being a mom. Obviously the best part of motherhood is Teagan herself. She is the BEST. But aside from the little Sweet Pea, the pride and passion for being the best mom to her is such an empowering job. I love being a mom. I just love it. I love watching her grow and learn each day. I love the responsibility of taking care of and comforting her. I have a much better understanding of the phrase, “Motherhood the hardest job, but the most rewarding one”. Spot on.

  2. The smiles and cuddles. NOTHING beats watching your baby smile back at you. It lights up my insides and fills me with pure joy. When she’s nursing and then looks up at me and cracks a smile, it melts my heart. I want to remember these smiles forever. Oh and the cuddles... As much as I’d love if she slept on her own sometimes, I treasure every cuddly nap. I try to make sure I pause and stare at her at least once a day as she’s sleeping in my arms and think about how grateful I am.

  3. The growth adventure. Every day feels like a bit of an adventure and an opportunity to tackle a new challenge. For example, doing our first grocery shopping trip together felt like a big check mark. She looked around, got a bit fussy, then fell asleep in her carrier. And watching Teagan learn new skills each week is so fun! Smiling, cooing, grabbing, holding her head up - each week (or day) is something new.

  4. So excited for all the memories ahead. When I was pregnant, I felt like each morning was Christmas. I’d wake up and remember that I was pregnant and it was the best feeling all over again. I feel the same way with her now. Each day I get excited that she is here and that not only do I get to enjoy her now, but I also get to look forward to all the fun things ahead of us. Talking, playing outside, holidays, mother/daughter trips, etc. I will do my best to cherish each day.

Those smiles!
